Indian Leopard
Leopards are the most trafficked big cats. Illegal goods seized show that at least 6,500 have been killed and traded since 2000 - the real figure is likely to be much higher as seizures represent a small fraction of illegal trade.
One of the main reasons why leopards are killed is the demand in China for traditional medicines made using leopard bone. However, there are plant-based alternatives, and some practitioners within the industry are pushing for change.
